Both a City and a Nation, proud of its multi-ethnic representation, Singapore cannot deny its Malay roots from an historical point of view. After drawing the outline of the Malay world, the speaker will illustrate some of its cultural aspects on the basis of artworks created by contemporary artists inspired by such an heritage in Singapore.

“Myanmar New Wave” showcases a selection of artworks by Street artists Thu Myat and Wunna Aung. With a great sense of humor they use traditional imagery transmuted in pop-art and comics art to question the current changes of Burmese society. 

The exhibition will run from 20 September to 5 November 2017.
