Overview
Weaver designer and visual art artist, Florence Régnier lives in Singapore since 2014.
Born in Morocco, she was exposed at a very young age to the very rich tradition of craftsmanship. After Graduating from Paris Art University, she studied at the Manufacture Nationale des Gobelins and Ecole Boulle. She completed a year of residency at the Contemporary Textile Centre in Montreal, Canada. Then, during four years she learned painting with an American artist in Paris. Her childhood in North Africa, then her move to the Middle East, Austral Africa and eventually Singapore, the pristine great outdoors of her travels on all continents inspire her choice of colours and textures. To create her textile pieces, Florence invented and patented her own technique called Néphilart ®. This technique allows her to create fabrics without any constraint: they are seamless, reversible and neither side can be seen as back or front. Symbolically this technique means that there are no borders, neither in the art world nor within mankind. Her creations are unique pieces for fashion accessories or interior design. A land, a horizon, a light are Florence guidelines. As a nomad artist, she creates her universe, which in turn creates her. We are all nomads, if we are not travelling on foot, our souls create the path. Florence participated in personal and collective exhibitions in Morocco, France, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Angola. |
