Overview
Born in Cambodia, Savann lives and works in France since 1980. His work cunningly reflects his personal experience and a universal vision of humanity.
Savann was born gifted with an artistic sensibility. As a young boy he liked to observe women doing embroidery and enjoyed creating assemblages with flowers and roots. He knew at an early age that he wanted to be an artist. The war in his country prevented him to study fine arts at University but not to become a successful artist. He left Cambodia for Vietnam in 1975 and arrived in Paris in 1980. As he could not afford attending the “Beaux Arts”, he spent as much time as possible in museums and reading art books and artists’ biographies. Since 1999, Savann was showcased in many solo and group exhibitions in Paris and Phnom Penh. |
